FLAG is proud to announce the following program
for the 2015-2016 school year.
- K-5 – Introduction & Basic knowledge of a foreign language
- Reinforcement of the middle school Spanish curriculum
- Opportunity to get familiarized with French before 6th grade
- Mandarin level I & II
- Mandarin level I for middle school students (6th – 8th)
LEVEL I –Introduction and Basic Skills
Level I classes are offered to K-5 students with no previous world language experience. The vocabulary covers basic colors, food, numbers, animals, members of the family and daily activities. All instruction is based on oral comprehension so the student can develop a natural accent in the target language and be encouraged to actively speak in simple complete sentences.
LEVEL II- Advanced Preparatory
Open to students who have completed one year in FLAG or children who already have previous knowledge of the language. The program helps them acquire a better understanding of grammar, phrases and common expressions as well as better every day social skills in the language. Reading and writing is gradually introduced to broaden their vocabulary and deepen their skills.Returning students will be placed together according to their experience with the language.
Immersion Day
An Immersion Day Program will be offered on a Saturday morning, early April, to provide the students with an opportunity to use their new skills through plays, arts, crafts, music and dance. Registration forms for Immersion Day will be sent out a few weeks before.
